Gold Silver Bronze
04:28
|
|||
I've got a tongue cast in silver but i keep it in it's cave
ain't no miner gonna find it diggin deep down in the cold
I've got the gold to cast a heart with and that gold i'm gonna save
'til i've made myself a goldsmith and i've found a better mold
When I open up my cave, you see my silver shining bright
but if it's closed just watch the bronze as it drips down from my eyes
i've got that gold bronze and silver dig down deep as you might
ain't gonna find it in a mine hole or a mountain, scrapin' skies
When I've made myself a gold smith, when i've found a better mold
I'll share my wealth with all the land, lay my weapons down to bed
I'll keep my silver on my tongue, heart of gold and eyes of bronze
but I'll throw my wealth down from its height, and let it land right on your head
When it hits it might just kill ya, or maybe just sink in,
but i'll know it when i see ya, as that shine glows from your skin
you'll have that gold, bronze and silver, dig down deep as they might
ain't gonna find it in a mine hole or a mountain, scrapin skies
ain't no miner gonna find it diggin deep down in a hole
ain't no miner gonna find it diggin deep down in the cold

Everybody's Blues
04:38
|
|||
So the voters have cast their stones
At the wisest and left their bones
Ooooo…mama what if reason gets cut loose
From where I stand I can Still here their drones
All of our fears dressed up in dissonant tones
oooo...mama what if i fall out of tune
I gather these up and from time to time
Speak them to her as we sip our wine
She says oooo...darling everybody gets those blues
Everybody gets those blues
When my motions have reached their top speed
And my mind has planted its last seed
Oooo…mama what if my best ain't enough
When our history strikes its final blow
And my future finds no place to go
Oooo…mama what if goin' gets too tough
-
It's through our stories that we're guided higher
Through the depths of darkness lit by fire
Ooo…mama sing a song to help me through
I gather these up and from time to time
Speak them to her as we sip our wine
She says oooo...darlin everybody gets those blues
Everybody gets those blues
Mama these any everybody's blues
Darlin' everybody gets those blues.

Mountain Climber
03:49
|
|||
I climbed the tallest mountain the horizon let me see,
my intention upon leaving was to find out what I'd be.
I'd questions without answers, answers without cause,
I knew that there'd be knowledge gained and inhibitions lost.
---
I began to ask my questions as I slowly reached the peak,
Then I listened for my answers though I still had yet to speak.
I heard the trees were whispering, but only to themselves,
I heard the wind let out a roar, but it's meaning was withheld.
---
Then a gust of wind came passing, and something brushed my cheek,
I looked first down to find a feather, then up, an eagle's beak.
As it opened I'd my answer, though again it did not speak,
but I could see it's eyes and realized the answer I did seek.
---
“In your ascent atop this mountain,
To the truth you yourself led.
And so do lead on, lead on
As I have said.”
---
So I took the eagle's feather, A memento of my climb
To remind me of the life I've led and the one I've left behind,
To remind me of the life I've led and the one I've yet to find,
To remind me of the life I've led and hte one I've left behind,
To remind me of the life I've led and the one I've yet to find.

Cold Hearted Woman
04:06
|
|||
Keep me warm, when the sun won't shine, I will brave the storm
If she keeps me warm, when the sun won't shine, I will brave the storm
Cold hearted woman's gonna dance on my grave
she's gonna sign me over to the devil in trade
for a life long lost at an innocent age
There's a chill runnin through me as I reach for her hand
then her weight passes to me, findin it hard to stand
then I'm fallin to the ground and I don't know where I'll land
Keep me warm...
I've been soaked and I've been seered by her tears and her flames
I've been choked and defeated by her guilt and her shame
if she'd cry me a river i could sail away
I've seen the ghosts that live inside her, they were starin me down,
as i sailed down that river they were prayin i'd drown
and i can't help but think that there's a better way
---
keep me warm when the sun don't shine, I will brave the storm
If she keeps me warm when the sun don't shine, I can brave the storm
If she keeps me warm
If she keeps me warm

Keep On Knockin'
06:30
|
|||
Well I've been walkin this line for a month and a year,
And I can not say that I've felt worse.
And you just keep crossin right past and then comin back bent
And your hands gettin bruised from bangin my door
So I say...
Keep a knocking but you can't come in
It's true. we've come and we've gone and our tenderest song is a roll in the hay
But now the love that I'm givin ain't comin back
And through our screams and our whispers it's this thats rang true
There's a time. There's a time and it's more than near
So keep a knockin but you can't come in
By now, I've sifted the sand and I've said all I will
So tonight. I sleep. Alone.
And though I've muffled your cries with the pillow on my frown.
I still hear the words 'i love you' seep through my door
Tell me you love me but you can't come in
Keep a knockin' but you can't come in.

The sun is fallin but the road stands firm
And I Never know what's comin round the next turn
These feet have taught me everything I've known
And These wheels keep turnin over every stone
My ma and pa were always good to me
But I thought that I had other places to see
It ain't like gypsies came and stole me awayf
But It's beena while since I'd a place to stay
I got a mind [I got a mind]
To go back home
All these restless nights begin to take their toll
And I can feel my wheels begin to slow their roll
All this runnin round ain't gonna make me whole
Maybe I should stand my ground and finally find my role
I got no regrets I'm on a winning streak
But a man is not a man but for the life he seeks
The road will never end and I know that for fact
But maybe I should find a place to leave leave my bags unpacked
I got a mind [I got a mind]
To go back home
I'd walk a mile In almost anyones shoes
Yeah, I get around and I have paid my dues
They say you judge a man by the company he keeps
Well I say don't go judgin til you've heard him speak
I got a mind [I got a mind]
To go back home

Lost in New Orleans
04:06
|
|||
Well I went to the doctor,
The doctor said,
“What have you been doing to yourself?”
I said I'd been away,
and that I knew that if I'd stayed,
My heart, it would never ever last.
He said “It's good you came today,
Yeah, your heart is on it's way,
But it's not the only thing that's weighing down your health.
Your liver's growing mold
and your lungs are black as coal
and your brain makes you no smarter than an ass.”
[Chorus]
Cause I've been drinking since I left her,
I've been stoned since I left home,
Slept on the streets of New York City,
Lost it all in New Orleans.
Doc, don't you worry about my liver,
I can do without my lungs,
My brain ain't much to speak of
but won't you mend my broken heart
Then I went to the banker,
the banker said
“What have you been doing to yourself?
We know you've been away,
and that you just could not stay,
because you have been running out of cash.”
I said “Please Mister Banker,
Take pitty on me.
The doc says I've got problems with my health.
My liver's growing mold,
and my heart is growing cold,
and my lungs are getting sick from all the hash
[Chorus]
Then I went and found my wife,
First I'd seen her in ten years,
She said “What have you done to yourself?”
Well, I said I'd been away
and that I knew that if I'd stayed,
My heart, it could never last without her.
She said I'd left her life upended
and the only way she'd mended
is through the love of her new man and their three kids.
Well I knew right then I'd die,
although the doctors, they might try,
they'd never mend my ever broken heart.
[Chorus]

The Right
04:41
|
|||
Everybody's fighting to be closer to God,
Steppin' in the same steps that their forefathers trod.
Maybe God can bring you peace, but who brings peace to him,
But when the whole world is killin' no one's ever gonna win.
Child sleeps, bullets runnin' past his head,
Waitin' for the day that one will strike his head.
He's thinkin "I'm gonna fight for what my father fought for,
And what his father fought for,
And what his father fought for.
And I'm gonna die for what my daddy died for,
And what his daddy died for,
And what his daddy died for,
And I'm gonna be right!"
Ain't no wrong to come from prayin' for a light to see,
But shed no blood except to scrape as you get down on your knees.
Well I've been sinnin' all my life and that's alright with me,
But I ain't ever had a life where I had to kill to believe.
Child sleeps, bullets runnin' past his bed,
Waitin for the day that one will strike his head
Everybody's fighting to be closer to God,
Steppin' in the same steps that their forefathers trod.
Maybe God can bring you peace, but who brings peace to him,
But when the whole world is killin' no one's ever gonna win.
Child sleeps, bullets runnin' past his head,
Waitin' for the day that one will strike his head.
He's thinkin "I'm gonna fight for what my father fought for,
And what his father fought for,
And what his father fought for.
And I'm gonna die for what my daddy died for,
And what his daddy died for,
And what his daddy died for,
And I'm gonna be right!"
I'm Gonna Be Right!

Gather
03:42
|
|||
Viccar, bring your holybook, your prayers are needed up apon the hill
There's a devil atop the chapel and he's spitting down his devils work
There's a witch within the government and she's castin off her witches spells
Weatherman bring your weatherthingsz the sky is brewing nothing good
There's a cold wind blowin up up up from the depths of this earth
There's a poison comin down comin down comin down from the heavens to this earth
-
Bring out your dead, torn, and tarnished souls we won't win the war, until our weapons fall
There's no defense against the hardened wall of a broken heart,
And a shattered spirit.
-
Shoe maker bring your hammer for our soles are not quite fit to walk this land
There's a Slickness to this ground and it'll pull your legs right out from under you
There's a fray within this rope and itll drop it all right down on to you
Bridge builder come on over there's a crevice growing wider while we wait
There's a gathering on the one side sayin come on one and all come and join us
There's a crowd on the other sayin "we don't want your kind".
-
Bring out your dead, torn, and tarnished souls we won't win the war, until our weapons fall
There's no defense against the hardened wall of a broken heart, And a shattered spirit.
